History of the Church

Praise Assembly of God had its beginning December 13,1989, when a group of people joined together to establish a place to worship. The first Sunday service was December 17,1989 Rev. Harold Scott, the Northern Missouri District Secretary-Treasurer was the first minister to preach to this new congregation. December 31,1989 a name was now given to this new beginning it would be called “Praise Assembly”. Later Rev. Manuel Shoults installed Rev. Benny and Sherri Ferguson as the first pastors of the church. The church had no property or building so they were having services in motel conference rooms of Ramada Inn, and Campus Inn, then the location was then moved to Vandiver Village, an office complex. God began to bless and souls were added to the church. In 1992 the congregation stepped out in faith and purchased twenty-one acres near Interstate 70 on Clark Lane. In 1992, Rev. Benny & Sherri Ferguson resigned as pastors and Rev. Dennis Stuart and family were voted in as the new pastors in August of 1992 and moved to Columbia, Missouri from the state of Texas. In 1993 construction began on the property with the hard work and labor of the people donating their time and efforts. The church was completed and the first service was held in September of 1994. We thank God for His continual blessing upon us.
